    About Aimee

    Hi! I’m Aimee, the recipe creator, writer and photographer behind WallflowerKitchen.com as well as the author of ‘Great British Vegan’ my cookbook where I share easy vegan-friendly recipes for classic British comfort food.

    I’m a 30-something years old and currently living on the South-West coast of England, where I’m very lucky to be close to the sea and countryside.

    Aside from creating recipes, I’m also passionate about crafts, electronics, puzzles, playing piano and animation.

    How Wallflower Kitchen Started

    I began this blog in 2012, when I was housebound due to a serious illness. I needed a new creative outlet and baking became my obsession, along with learning HTML and how to create websites. And so, with this combination, a food blog was born!

    Creating Vegan Recipes

    When I became vegan in 2014, plant-based cooking became the new permanent theme for Wallflower Kitchen.

    I won’t go into too much detail as to what made me decide veganism was the right path, but it was quite a sudden change for me. Once I learned a bit more about animal agriculture, it was a simple decision and I never looked back.

    Eating plant-based encouraged me to try new foods and really grew my passion for cooking. I’m not a trained chef, just a home cook who wants accessible, simple and affordable food for the everyday, like many other people. So that is exactly what you will find here!

    Great British Vegan Cookbook

    In late 2018, I began brainstorming ideas for a cookbook. At this point, veganism had really grown in popularity and there were already a lot of cookbooks on the subject.

    But when I thought about what was missing, and what I really wanted more of, it was everyday British grub, such as Shepherds Pie, Sunday Roasts, Crumpets, Sticky Toffee Puddings etc.

    In 2019, Quarto’s White Lion Publishing picked up my book idea and helped create ‘Great British Vegan’ – Simple, plant-based recipes to cook the nation’s favourite dishes.

    The book was published in 2021 and has been praised on Sunday Brunch (with Rick Stein!) in the Telegraph, Independent, Delicious magazine and more!
