How’s that for an attention grabbing title? No nudity here though, I’m afraid. I’m referring to Nākd’s new Fruit & Nut Bits range!
You may have tried Nākd’s bars before, which I love (I’m quite obsessed with the Cashew Cookie flavour) and so I was glad when Natural Balance Foods contacted me and asked if I would like to try their new range of Fruit & Nut bits – similar to the bars but in small bite-sized pieces.
I was sent two flavours to try; Berry Delight and Cocoa Orange. The packages are a generous size and weigh 130g, making them good to share or a great alternative to sugary cinema sweets. Appearance wise, these bites aren’t the prettiest things but they are honest and raw – you know what you’re eating (and it tastes good!) The list of ingredients is very short and sweet, all the products are vegan and gluten-free.
Firstly, I tried the Berry Delight flavour. The ingredients are simply dates, cashews, raisins, raspberries, rice flour and a hint of natural berry flavouring. These bites have a great raspberry flavour but are very sweet – perhaps a little too sweet for my liking but my other “taste testers” loved the sweetness. These would be a great alternative to gummy sweets for kids, especially as they count towards “1 of your 5 a day!”
Next I tried the Cocoa Orange which is definitely my favourite of the two (I already loved the bar version…) The ingredients are dates, cashews, raisins, cocoa, rice flour and a hint of natural orange flavouring. It really does taste like chocolate orange – but with a pleasant chewy texture. I’d happily swap a Terry’s Chocolate Orange for a bag of these!
Finals thoughts… These fruit & nut bits are a delicious, healthy snack for those who are trying to eat more good stuff. I will definitely be taking a bag of the cocoa orange with me next time I’m at the cinema. I hope they make a cashew cookie flavour next!
There is currently 20% off a mixed case of these fruit & nut bits. Visit naturalbalancefoods.co.uk to find out more.
